Product Overview

The Deval Attrition Tester is designed for determining the resistance of aggregates to wear by abrasion and attrition. The test is widely used in civil engineering laboratories, highway departments, construction companies, and aggregate production plants to evaluate the durability and toughness of aggregates used in road and concrete construction.

The apparatus consists of two hollow steel cylinders closed at one end and fitted with removable covers at the other end. The cylinders are mounted on a rotating shaft at an angle of 30° to the axis of rotation, ensuring effective abrasion action during the test. The shaft is driven through a heavy-duty reduction gear system and rotates at a speed of 30–33 RPM.

The machine is equipped with a revolution counter for accurate monitoring of test cycles and is supplied complete with an abrasive charge of 12 hardened steel balls of 48 mm diameter. The sturdy construction and precision engineering ensure reliable and repeatable test results.
