Fresh self-compacting concrete is poured into the V-Funnel through the filling hopper while the discharge opening remains closed. Once filled, the discharge lid is opened, allowing the concrete to flow freely under gravity. The flow time, measured in seconds, indicates the viscosity and flow characteristics of the concrete. Shorter flow times generally represent higher flowability, while longer times may indicate increased viscosity or reduced workability.
