The Accelerated Polishing Machine is a specialized laboratory instrument used to prepare aggregate specimens for subsequent polished stone value (PSV) friction testing. Designed in strict compliance with BS EN 1097-8 and ASTM D3319, this system simulates the long-term abrasive polishing action of vehicle tyres on road surface aggregates. The heavy-duty machine features a road wheel assembly rotating at a calibrated speed, a precise continuous-feed mechanism for water and abrasive corn emery charges, and a pneumatic tyre load lever system. This allows highway engineering labs to accurately predict the long-term skid resistance profiles of surface course materials
