Product Description

The MSI 3055 Direct Shear Apparatus – Motorised Twelve Speed is designed for determining the shear strength characteristics of soil in accordance with IS 2720 (Part XIII). The apparatus provides controlled horizontal movement of the shear box at twelve selectable rates, allowing the user to perform direct shear tests under different soil conditions.

The loading unit incorporates a load yoke with direct and lever loading arrangements for applying the required normal stress. The system is mounted on a rigid frame and incorporates V-strips and roller strips to provide smooth, low-friction movement of the shear box housing.

Shear Box Assembly

The standard shear box assembly comprises:

Loading System

The loading unit consists of a load yoke with direct and lever loading arrangements.

The apparatus includes a counterbalanced detachable lever. Load can be applied either through a steel ball recessed in the loading pad or directly through a boss on the precalibrated loading yoke.
