Product Description:

The L-Shape Box Apparatus (L-Box) is used to assess the passing ability, filling behavior, and segregation resistance of fresh Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) flowing through confined spaces. Fully compliant with BS EN 12350-10 specifications, this rugged testing rig consists of a vertical hopper column joined to a horizontal trough, separated by a quick-release gate fitted with removable steel reinforcing bars. By measuring the final resting height profile of the concrete at the far end of the trough compared to the vertical column, engineers can mathematically verify the flow performance of high-durability infrastructure concrete.

🔬 Working Principle

The vertical section of the L-Shape Box is filled with fresh self-compacting concrete while the guillotine gate remains closed. After a brief rest period, the gate is lifted, allowing the concrete to flow horizontally through the obstacle bars into the horizontal trough.

The heights of the concrete at the beginning (\(H_{1}\)) and at the end (\(H_{2}\)) of the horizontal trough are measured to calculate the passing ratio (\(H_2/H_1\)). A ratio closer to 1.0 indicates excellent passing ability and resistance to blocking.
