🔬 Working Principle

After a concrete cube, cylinder, or slump test mold is fully compacted using a tamping rod or bar, a surplus volume of concrete remains piled at the top. The operator places the flat steel straight edge horizontally against the top rim of the mold. Holding the bar firmly at a slight forward angle, the operator slides it across the rim using a smooth, sawing horizontal movement. This shears off all overflowing aggregates and paste cleanly, leaving a perfectly flush, flat surface that is absolutely identical to the top boundary dimensions of the testing container.
